Florida WR Rainey charged with stalking

Florida’s offensive woes are no longer limited to on the field. And running back Jeff Demps won’t be able to come to the rescue of this one.

According to The Gainesville Sun, wide receiver Chris Rainey has been charged with aggravated stalking and is scheduled for an appearance with a judge Tuesday morning.

Gainesville police said the 22-year-old Rainey sent a text message Monday night that read “Time to die” to a woman he has dated on and off the past three years.

The incident reportedly began when the woman missed a call from Rainey after falling asleep. After he arrived at her home, they talked and she told him to leave.

Following their meeting, the woman received the text and called police.

The redshirt junior has six receptions and a touchdown this season for the Gators and missed part of Saturday’s 38-14 victory over South Florida with a possible concussion.
