Go Daddy enters the world of college pigskin
The GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Ala., has changed its name to the GoDaddy.com Bowl because of the game’s new title sponsor.
If this means more Danica Patrick, we should all be happier college football fans.
GMAC was the sponsor of the postseason game for the past decade. The GoDaddy.com Bowl features a MAC team against a school from the Sun Belt Conference. It will air live on ESPN on Jan. 6, 2011.
“We're excited to have a powerhouse like Go Daddy behind Mobile's biggest event of the year,” said GoDaddy.com Bowl President Jerry Silverstein. “Go Daddy stepped up big time for this sponsorship, which is good for all of us. Our bowl holds the record for the highest-scoring game in college football bowl-game history. We are looking forward to another marquee matchup.”
Go Daddy is no stranger to sports advertising. We all know about its annual Super Bowl commercials, but the company also sponsors Indy Car-Nascar driver Patrick, the Southern 500 Nascar race in May in South Carolina and various events in mixed martial arts.
