Holgorsen to West Virginia, will become head coach in 2012

West Virginia has one-upped Backyard Brawl rival Pittsburgh. And now the Mountaineers have a plan for the future while the Panthers are still looking for a new leader of the program.

Dana HolgorsenDana Holgorsen is reportedly set to relocate to Morgantown.

According to The Charleston Gazette’s Mitch Vingle, Oklahoma State's Dana Holgorsen will become West Virginia’s new offensive coordinator in 2011 before replacing Bill Stewart as head coach in 2012.

Stewart will remain the face of the program next season.

According to the report, Mountaineers defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel and the entire defensive staff will be retained, while incumbent offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen will be gone whether he lands the open Kent State head coaching job or not.

With Holgorsen out of the equation for Pittsburgh, who will emerge as the frontrunner for the Panthers head gig?

Meanwhile, will Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy go back to calling plays, or will he look to fill the now-open OC gig with a veteran assistant as he did with Holgorsen last offseason?
