Is Alabama in pursuit of five-star receiver?
Could Alabama land a potential replacement for Julio Jones in Georgia head coach Mark Richt’s own backyard?
According to CrimsonConfidential.com, five-star ATH Quan Bray has not ruled out playing for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
While the Georgia native initially singled out LSU and Miami in an interview with writer Erik Stinnett, when Stinnett raised the possibility of the Crimson Tide, Bray didn’t shoot down the idea.
“Oh, yeah. Alabama's still up there. They're up there,” he said.
Obviously, Stinnett writes for an Alabama site, so the 5-11, 180-pounder may have been practicing courtesy in his response. But the Tide certainly is one of the finalists for his services. How far ahead the Tigers and Hurricanes are — if indeed they are — is unknown.
However, Bray is primarily being recruited as a wide receiver, and ‘Bama already has four committed in the 2011 class. Clemson and Miami, meanwhile, have just two apiece — with offers to other receivers out there, as well.
It doesn’t seem that Richt and the Bulldogs are one of the finalists up to this point, which would be difficult for Georgia fans to swallow because the 2011 class doesn’t include any of the state's most highly regarded top 10 prospects up to this point.
