Is Yankee Stadium prepared for a Hurricane?
Officials from the University of Miami have begun talks with representatives from Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees to discuss the possibility of playing a football game at Yankee Stadium in 2013.
Hurricanes athletic director Kirby Hocutt met with Yankees brass on Tuesday about hosting longtime rival Florida on Sept. 7, 2013, at "the House that Jeter Built." The ‘Canes already have somewhat of a tie to the Yankees organization, as they are scheduled to visit South Florida on Nov. 30 of that year in Tampa, Fla., the spring training home of the Yanks.
Miami has five home and five road games scheduled for 2013 as of now, leaving two slots open on its schedule.
The ‘Canes played in old Yankee Stadium in 1962, losing to Nebraska in the final edition of the Gotham Bowl.
