Johnson-Koulianos to be without Iowa helmet in NFLPA Game?

Former Iowa receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos received some good news on Thursday, as he no longer faces charges of keeping a drug house — classified as an aggravated misdemeanor and carrying a penalty of up to two years in prison — following his arrest last month. However, he still faces charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs for anxiety, pain and sleep. He will be arraigned on Feb. 3.

Dismissed from the team after the arrest, Johnson-Koulianos will be appearing in the NFL Players Association Game, formerly known as the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game, on Feb. 5 in San Antonio. However, according to a source, Iowa may not let him wear the Hawkeye helmet because he is no longer with the program. Instead, DJK may have to wear the helmet he donned in high school.

The Hawkeyes’ all-time leading receiver took to Twitter in recent weeks to express his remorse to Iowa fans for the rough ending to his college career.
