Meyer dismisses two Ohio State players

Players dealing with off-the-field issues occurred with frequency during Urban Meyer's tenure at Florida, but the new Ohio State head coach is doing everything he can to run a smooth operation in Columbus as he preaches accountability to his new players.

The former Gators head coach dismissed defensive backs Dominic Clarke and DerJuan Gambrell on Sunday after the pair were involved in off-the-field drama.

Clarke was charged with misdemeanor operating while intoxicated and two other misdemeanors following a traffic stop in early January. The sophomore was also arrested in October for allegedly discharging a BB gun at a restaurant, and he was ticketed for speeding near campus as well. The backup cornerback started three games last fall.

Gambrell, meanwhile, was dismissed for an unspecified violation of team rules. He didn't contribute last season as a freshman.
