Miami's Miller turning pro, signs with Rosenhaus

Al Golden's second year as Miami head coach just became even tougher, as star running back Lamar Miller is leaving early for the NFL Draft, according to Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com.

Lamar MillerICONLamar Miller's loss leaves a big hole for the 'Canes to fill.

Miller became a central point of the Hurricanes' offense this fall in Golden's first year, rushing for 1,272 yards and nine touchdowns. He leaves Coral Gables with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

According to a Tweet from ESPN's Joe Schad, Miller has signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus.

The 5-11, 216-pounder shed his label of being merely a speedster and kick returner by becoming a more polished back, recording seven games of 100-plus yards after rushing for 646 yards and six scores in 2010 as a redshirt freshman.

By declaring for the draft, Miller likely believes he could be a first-round pick.

The Hurricanes will need to find a couple of dynamic playmakers on offense in 2012 after also losing receiver Tommy Streeter, who declared early for the draft as well.
