Nation's top safety Cravens commits to USC

The top safety in the Class of 2013, Su'a Cravens, has committed to USC.

A consensus five-star recruit, the Vista Murrieta High School (Murrieta, CA) star chose the Trojans over major powers Michigan and Ohio State. UCLA and Nebraska also remained in the mix late for Cravens, who recorded 100 tackles, three interceptions and 15 offensive touchdowns in 2011.

The 6-1, 205-pound Cravens, who could possibly play at running back or linebacker but will likely hit his highest ceiling at safety, said that he likes USC because it's in his backyard and it has an impressive business school. He plans to graduate high school in December and enroll early in Los Angeles.

Cravens did say, however, that he is open to visiting other schools if any still want him to visit. So he could be considered a soft verbal at this point.

As of now, USC arguably has the top quarterback, running back and safety in the Class of 2013. While Alabama and Michigan may be battling for the No. 1 overall class in 2013, it's tough to deny the star power of Lane Kiffin's potential haul. The Trojans now have eight commitments for 2013.
