Nebraska QB Martinez expected to start Saturday

Expect the magic to return to the Nebraska offense.

Head coach Bo Pelini said Monday that he expected quarterback Taylor Martinez to start under center against Kansas on Saturday.

Martinez missed the Cornhuskers’ 31-30 overtime victory at Iowa State last week due to a sprained ankle suffered the previous week against Missouri. Cody Green, who started two games in 2009, stepped in for Martinez against the Cyclones and completed 7-of-12 passes for just 79 yards. The Cornhuskers were content to keep it on the ground for most of the contest.

“I expect him to be healthy,” Pelini said of Martinez. “You don't know what’s going to happen in a week of practice.”

Regular backup quarterback Zac Lee missed the Iowa State game because of an injured hand but was expected to be back at practice this week.
