Northwestern adds a transfer from Stanford

Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald added depth to his inexperienced secondary on Monday when it was announced that Quinn Evans would finish his playing career as a grad transfer student.

The former Stanford cornerback, who redshirted his freshman campaign, played in 20 games during his career in Palo Alto. He missed the 2011 season due to injury. As a Cardinal he was a contributor on special teams and was a reserve DB.

Evans will be eligible for the 2012 season and pursue a master's degree in Northwestern's School of Continuing Studies.

The Wildcats must replace cornerbacks Jordan Mabin and Jeravin Matthews as well as safety Brian Peters, so Evans will help provide a much-needed veteran presence. A stronger pass rush would also take pressure off of a young defensive backfield.
