Notre Dame taking its act on the road
What’s wrong with a little brand extension, right? Especially when it comes to Notre Dame football.
The Fighting Irish announced on Monday that they will play the Maryland Terrapins on Nov. 12, 2011 at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. And despite the fact that they'll be playing in their home state, the Terps won’t even be the home team.
Ah, the wonders of college football.
ND will actually be the host school, continuing the school administration’s plan of “hosting” one game offsite per season.
The team began the plan last year in San Antonio when it played Washington State at the Alamo Dome. This season, the Irish have a date with Army at Yankee Stadium and are booked to battle the Sun Devils of Arizona State at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in 2013.
The Irish and Terps have only met once before, back on Aug. 31, 2002 at Giants Stadium in the old Kickoff Classic. The Irish won that contest 20-0 behind the stellar play of the forgettable Matt LoVecchio.
