Oklahoma receiver transferring to Texas A&M

Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones has lost a weapon on offense as rising sophomore wide receiver Kameel Jackson has announced that he will transfer to Texas A&M, where he will play for former OU co-offensive coordinator Kevin Sumlin.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder, who is a former four-star recruit, played in 11 games as a true freshman (starting two) in 2011, catching 12 passes for 165 yards. He had a good chance to start for the Sooners with Ryan Broyles moving on, but freshman Trey Metoyer passed him on the depth chart after his fantastic spring.

Jackson didn't play in the team's final spring scrimmage, and rumors began to surface that the Texas native was unhappy at the school.

The Sooners shouldn't be hurt too badly by the departure, however, as perhaps the nation's top receiving class arrives in the fall. The class includes local product Sterling Shepard as well as U.S. Army All-Americans Durron Neal and Derrick Woods. And Metoyer is primed for a huge season.

The Aggies, meanwhile, gain another weapon for Sumlin's pass-happy offense as they move into the SEC.

Jackson, who joins ex-Sooner running back Brandon Williams in College Station, will be eligible to play at A&M in 2013.
