Oregon's Thomas must avoid wrath of Auburn's Fairley

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Auburn-Oregon BCS National Championship game will be the play of the Ducks' offensive line against the Tigers' ferocious front four, led by future first-round draft pick Nick Fairley.

Fairley is obviously the lineman everyone talks about — and with good reason. Just see the video below.

But keep an eye on the Tigers defensive ends in this game. With Oregon running so many zone-read options, Auburn's ends will need to stay disciplined in their assignments because running backs LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner like to kick it to the outside. If ends Antoine Carter and Nosa Eguae can funnel the ball carriers back inside to the tackles and linebackers or force quarterback Darron Thomas to keep the ball and run up the middle, Auburn will consider that a victory.

Now, I happened to show the video of questionable hits delivered by Fairley on Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray only because Thomas must be aware that he will be facing one mean son of a gun on Monday night — in case he already isn't having nightmares.
