Pac-12 and Big Ten to play annual interleague games

If you're excited about this year's Rose Bowl game between Oregon and Wisconsin, marquee matchups such as the one between the Ducks and the Badgers could be a part of the regular season in the near future.

The Pac-12 and Big Ten announced Wednesday that the leagues are ramping up interconference scheduling as well as cross-promoting their television networks.

Consider it expanding without actually expanding the respective leagues from 12 teams.

By 2017, each Pac-12 and Big Ten team's nonconference schedule will include one game against a team from the other league, with some games possibly played at the San Francisco 49ers' new facility or Chicago's Soldier Field.

While officials are still working out all of the details, it's great to see commissioners Larry Scott and Jim Delany bring some innovation to their leagues in the ever-changing college landscape.
