Penn State's Redd considering a transfer to USC

Silas Redd, arguably the best running back in the Big Ten not named Montee Ball, could be on his way out of Penn State.

According to ESPN's Joe Schad, Redd is considering a transfer to USC, and the Trojans have notified PSU that they are recruiting Redd. Of course, because of the massive sanctions levied against Penn State on Monday, Nittany Lion players are eligible to transfer and play right away at their new schools.

While USC has the productive Curtis McNeal entrenched as the starter at running back, durability remains a concern with him because he is a smaller back. The 5-10, 209-pound Redd, who has two years of eligibility remaining, would be an ideal complement to McNeal, especially for a team with depth issues in the backfield. It would also make a dangerous offense even more scary, as Redd rushed for 1,241 yards and 7 scores while averaging over 5.0 yards per carry last fall.

Stay tuned, because a current Penn State player could be on his way to a campus near you.
