Poggi could be ready to commit to Alabama

Alabama could be ready to land yet another talented defender.

Henry Poggi, a Class of 2013 defensive tackle from Gilman School (Baltimore, MD), has been recruited very hard by the Crimson Tide and is ready to make a decision within the next 30 days, according to his father. However, Michigan has also been a strong suitor. And while Tennessee and Texas A&M sit among his final four, it looks like the Crimson Tide and Wolverines are the frontrunners.

The 6-3, 245-pounder, who also plays tight end in high school, may elect to enroll in Tuscaloosa if Michigan is able to get a commitment from fellow defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. of Xaverian Brothers (Westwood, MA). He is visiting Ann Arbor this weekend. A commitment to Michigan from Hurst Jr. could put the Tide in the driver's seat for Poggi.

Poggi, who is arguably the top player in Maryland, was a teammate of 2012 Alabama signee Cyrus Jones and has a strong family background in football. His father played at Pittsburgh, his oldest brother played at Duke and another brother plays linebacker at Iowa.
