Report: Loss to Purdue will cost Brewster job at Minnesota
Fuel up those Tony Dungy rumors once again.
If Minnesota falls to 1-6 with a loss at Purdue on Saturday, Tim Brewster will be out as head coach.
ICONIs Tim Brewster in his final days as Minnesota head coach?
That’s according to a report on 1500ESPN.com, the ESPN Radio affiliate in the Twin Cities.
Sources with knowledge of the situation told the station that if the Gophers fall in West Lafayette, the school will announce Brewster won’t be back next year. The report also says that the university drafted a press release and devised a media plan on Thursday to move forward if the team loses its sixth consecutive game.
Brewster could receive a buyout that’s about twice as large if he remains until the end of the season than if he leaves before the conclusion. So if the Gophers lose and it is announced that he won't be back in 2011, he would have to decide if being a lame duck coach is worth the extra cash.
