Report: NCAA talks to brother-in-law of Kiffin
Lane Kiffin’s brother-in-law was interviewed by the NCAA Tuesday morning about the recruiting practices of the USC head coach and his staff when they were at the University of Tennessee, according to a report.
New Mexico quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator David Reaves, whose sister, Layla, is married to Kiffin, became part of a growing NCAA inquiry into a group of Tennessee recruiting hostesses having attended high school games involving recruits, calling prospects during an all-star game and being involved in various recruiting weekends.
Reaves was not brought to Los Angeles to be on Kiffin’s staff when he took the job at USC. He was allegedly unaware that Kiffin was even taking the Trojans’ head gig when Pete Carroll left for the Seattle Seahawks.
Since this recruiting story broke in late 2009, there were rumors that the trip by two UT hostesses to visit a pair of recruits in South Carolina was put on a credit card in Reaves’ name.
Certainly Vols fans would love to see Kiffin get nailed, but would the ramifications for the UT program be worth it?
