Report: Ohio State dismisses Hyde

Ohio State's goal of an undefeated season became a little more difficult to achieve on Monday as head coach Urban Meyer reportedly dismissed starting running back Carlos Hyde from the football program following an incident over the weekend in Columbus, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Per the report, Hyde “was named as a person of interest in a weekend assault against a female in a Downtown bar.” No charges have been filed against him as of yet.

Hyde led Buckeye running backs last season with 970 rushing yards and had 16 touchdowns on the ground.

And the bad news didn't stop there for the Buckeyes.

According to the same report, top cornerback and future NFL high-round draft pick Bradley Roby was arrested early Sunday morning in a separate incident at a bar in Bloomington, IN. Roby was asked to leave following a disturbance, refused to do so and was subdued by bouncers before being taken into custody. He was charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, and he has been indefinitely suspended by Meyer pending further investigation, according to BucksInsider.com.

Roby was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2012 and was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award, which is given to the nation’s top defensive back.

UPDATE: ESPN's Brett McMurphy‏ reports that Hyde has been suspended from all football team activities pending the outcome of the student code of conduct and criminal investigations. If the running back is found to be innocent of the allegations, he will be reinstated to the program, according to McMurphy.
