Safety Riley chooses UCLA over USC, four other powers
Chalk up another defensive playmaker for UCLA’s growing class of 2010.
Four-star S Dietrich Riley has signed a letter of intent to play in Pasadena, choosing the Bruins over rival USC, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame and LSU.
Despite being a lifelong Trojans fan, Riley will join an impressive defensive class and suit up for the Bruins next fall.
The 6-1, 205-pound Riley had received more than 30 scholarship offers — the first coming during his sophomore year from former USC head coach Pete Carroll. Despite new Trojans coach Lane Kiffin’s best efforts, Riley could not pass up a chance to play for Rick Neuheisel at UCLA — a program that certainly has stolen some of USC’s local thunder on National Signing Day.
Riley is ranked the 108th-best prospect in the nation on the ESPNU 150 list.
