SMU LB arrested for alleged sexual assault of a child

A linebacker on the SMU football team was arrested Thursday on allegations that he sexually assaulted a child.

According to the Dallas Morning News, linebacker Brandon Henderson was taken by police yesterday on a warrant to the Dallas County Jail where he is awaiting a transfer to Taylor County, where the alleged assault occurred. The 20-year-old’s bail has been set at $50,000.

The age of the alleged victim was not released.

SMU declined to comment on the arrest, citing student privacy laws. Head coach June Junes wouldn't say whether the sophomore, who played sparingly in ’09, has been suspended from the team.

The Mustangs plays Rice in Houston on Saturday night.
