TCU linebacker Brock out for the season

A younger, more inexperienced TCU defense will rely even more on youth now that Tanner Brock has been lost for the season.

Brock, one of the nation's best linebackers, has not been able to recover from an ankle injury that he reaggravated in the season-opening loss to Baylor, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The junior had ankle surgery this past summer to fix the original injury and practiced throughout fall camp but went down in the game against the Bears. He missed the Horned Frogs' last two contests and will now miss the rest of the 2011 campaign.

Brock was TCU's leading tackler a year ago and entered the season on the Butkus Award Watch List along with teammate Tank Carder. Junior Kenny Cain is expected to take Brock's place in the lineup, with Kris Gardner, Greg Burks and Deryck Gildon expected to see increased snaps as well.
