Top Class of 2012 RB Marshall lands at Georgia
Despite a late push by ACC champion Clemson, Raleigh, N.C. (Millbrook High) running back Keith Marshall has verbally commited to play for Mark Richt at Georgia.
The 5-11, 190-pounder, who was also recruited by top programs such as Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, USC and Virginia Tech, is a huge land for the Bulldogs considering their serious depth issues in the backfield. After star freshman Isaiah Crowell, the cupboard is pretty bare.
Marshall is a nationally-ranked sprinter, a good student and perhaps the best all-purpose back in the country. He will enroll in January and participate in offseason workouts as well as spring practice. He likely will figure into the rotation next fall.
Marshall has a nice initial burst, great vision and home-run speed on all areas of the field. He has run the 40-yard dash in 4.25 seconds and consistently breaks 4.35. The son of former Denver Bronco Warren Marshall, he is an elusive and powerful runner who can block and catch passes out of the backfield. As he continues to add weight and get stronger, he will become more effective running between the tackles.
