Wisconsin welcomes back Chryst
Paul Chryst returned to the Wisconsin football program on Wednesday after a three-year stint as the head coach at Pitt.
The longtime Badgers offensive coordinator was announced by athletic director Barry Alvarez as the new leader in Madison.
Chryst, who was hired one week after Gary Andersen left for Oregon State, was the OC at Wisconsin from 2005-11 and played quarterback at the school in the 1980s. The 49-year-old, who interviewed with Alvarez about the vacancy last week, went 19-19 in three seasons with the Panthers.
Alvarez is slated to coach the Badgers when they play Auburn in the Outback Bowl on January 1.
Pitt is now looking for a head coach for the fourth time since Dave Wannstedt was let go after the 2010 season.
