Big Blue looking into Jeff Garcia

After losing David Carr to the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Giants are now in the process of finding a suitable backup for quarterback Eli Manning.

Two guys familiar with the role of playing second-fiddle to a franchise signal-caller could get a look sometime in the near future.

Per Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants will consider Jeff Garcia and Mark Brunell as potential replacements for David Carr.

The 40-year-old Garcia spent the beginning of the 2009 season with the Philadelphia Eagles as the third-string quarterback while Michael Vick served his suspension. Brunell—a 17-year veteran out of Washington—has spent the last two years as the No. 2 in New Orleans behind Pro Bowler Drew Brees.

In addition to Garcia and Brunell, the Giants are bringing in Peyton Manning’s former backup, Jim Sorgi, for a workout on Monday.
