Browns receive third-round pick for Wimbley

The Cleveland Browns are beginning to stockpile draft picks.

After acquiring a sixth-round selection in 2011 and a conditional draft pick in 2012 from the Denver Broncos in exchange for quarterback Brady Quinn, the Browns were at it again Sunday afternoon when they traded outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to the Oakland Raiders.

In return, the Browns landed the Raiders’ third-round pick in this year’s draft, according to Clark Judge of CBS Sports.

Wimbley—a four-year veteran out of Florida State—started 62 of a possible 64 games for the Browns during his four-year run in Cleveland. The linebacker also amassed 26.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles during that time span.

Wimbley was the 13th overall selection in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft. The 6’3”, 255-pounder played outside linebacker in the Browns’ 3-4 scheme, but will likely be moved to defensive end in the Raiders’ 4-3 defense.
