Chargers put Antonio Gates on PUP list
While he’s played through pain in the past, the San Diego Chargers were hoping to have Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates at 100% for their home opener on September 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Will Gates be able to go 16 games this season?
As of the current moment, 100% may be a bit of a stretch.
Gates is suffering from plantar fasciitis in his right foot and was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list Monday, according to CBS Sports. While on the PUP list, Gates is allowed to participate in team meetings as well as rehab his foot, but cannot practice.
If you recall, the 31-year-old missed six games last season due to the same injury.
The Chargers are permitted to put Gates on the active roster at any time, so we’ll see how this thing plays out.
