Citadel QB busted for armed robbery

Citadel quarterback Miguel Starks and former player linebacker Reginald Anthony Rice, 22, are two of the four individuals who have been charged with armed robbery of a man at his Charleston, South Carolina home, according to the Associated Press.

Starks and Rice, along with two College of Charleston students—Stephen Horace Francois, 20, and Sasha Gaskins, 18—are accused of stealing electronic equipment, jewelry, and a wallet from a man’s home in Charleston after they gained access to his house by having a woman who knew him pretend she was having car trouble.

The interesting part in this whole mess is that according to Rick Chandler of NBC Sports, the victim in this case is one of Starks’ assistant football coaches at The Citadel. (Insert intelligent criminal joke here).

Were they at least wearing masks?

Starks and Rice have been charged with armed robbery, first-degree burglary, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Francois is charged with armed robbery, first-degree burglary and kidnapping while Gaskins is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

The Citadel released a statement from head coach Kevin Higgins:

"Like the rest of The Citadel community we are shocked, angry and saddened by the alleged events involving Miguel Starks," Higgins said. "Senseless does not begin to describe the situation. Miguel is an only child, loved and provided well for by his parents Michael and Sharon. He has many talents and football is just one of them. We will continue to cooperate with the investigation in any way that we are asked."
