Clausen to start in Week 3
Jimmy Clausen is getting his chance to show 31 NFL teams they made a mistake in passing on him last April.
Per a tweet from Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer, Panthers head coach John Fox has announced that Clausen will start for Carolina in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
For those of you in quarterback trouble that are staring at a waiver wire with some questionable options, this is a guy you should be thinking about.
Yes, rookie quarterbacks tend to struggle—which means you shouldn’t expect much (especially against a tough Cincinnati defense). But Clausen is accurate, has a big-time arm and a Pro Bowl receiver at his disposal in Steve Smith.
Sam Bradford isn’t working with anywhere close to the talent that Clausen has in the huddle with him.
As for former starting quarterback Matt Moore, his time as the starter in Carolina may already be over. In two games, Moore has completed just 20 of 39 passes for 307 yards with 2 touchdowns and six turnovers.
Not to mention the fact that the Panthers are 0-2 with him running the show.
