Dansby has four-team wish list
Before the Arizona Cardinals slapped the franchise tag on Karlos Dansby last February, the inside linebacker wasn’t shy regarding his feelings about playing for the New York Giants.
“Playing in New York? Who wouldn’t want to play in New York,” Dansby said.
On Friday, the six-year veteran out of Auburn reiterated his interest in Big Blue, and also mentioned three other teams he’d like to play for during an appearance on Sirius Radio.
In addition to the Giants, Dansby listed the Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers and Washington Redskins as preferred destinations, according to Adam Schein of SNY.
The good news for Dansby is that he’s likely to have enough suitors this March to leverage them against each other for a big financial score.
Dansby ranks 13th in tackles since 2008 (228) and was an integral part of an Arizona defense that reached the Super Bowl just 12 months ago. In addition, he’s led the Cardinals in tackles in each of the past three seasons and has served as a team captain since 2008.
But the big question that many scouts and personnel executives will be asking is whether or not Dansby can make the switch from a 3-4 defense (which they run in Arizona) to a 4-3 defense (like they play in New York).
With middle linebacker Antonio Pierce now gone, if the Giants feel Dansby can make the transition, they may come knocking in a few weeks.
