DeSean Jackson gets laid out

PHILADELPHIA—Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson started the first quarter of Sunday’s Week 6 showdown against the Atlanta Falcons with a bang.

Unfortunately for Philly fans, his day is already over.

Thanks to an even bigger bang.

Jackson was lit up by Atlanta cornerback Dunta Robinson at the beginning of the second quarter when he tried to haul-in a short Kevin Kolb pass out in the flat. Jackson was looking back towards Kolb when Robinson came flying up and laid out the Pro Bowl wide receiver.

Robinson received a 15-yard penalty for the hit.

Both Jackson and Robinson were down on the field for a few minutes. The good news is that they were both able to get up move around. The bad news is that Jackson’s day is over due to what is being called a “head injury.”

Prior to the hit, the fourth-year receiver out of California had accounted for both of the Eagles’ touchdowns. Jackson scored on a 31-yard reverse early in the first quarter and then hooked up with Kolb on a 34-yard TD reception just over five minutes later.

Philadelphia currently leads Atlanta 14-0 in the second quarter.
