D-Will out for Week 9
Fantasy owners can go ahead and scratch DeAngelo Williams from their lineups this weekend.
Per a report from Steve Reed of the Gaston Gazette, the Panthers running back will not play on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints due to a foot injury. Williams was also held out of Carolina’s Week 8 showdown at St. Louis due to the same injury.
With Williams out, third-year running back Jonathan Stewart will get the start for the Panthers. J-Stew picked up just 30 yards on 14 carries (2.1 YPC) last weekend against the Rams.
The upside here is that the Saints are giving up an average of 19.0 fantasy points per week to opposing running backs (12th most in NFL). Consider Stewart a decent flex option this Sunday.
As for Williams, the former Pro Bowler is targeting a Week 10 comeback. We’ll keep you posted on his progress.
