Fan tries to sway Favre with newspaper ad

It never ends.

Despite the fact that the NFL combine kicks off this week in Indianapolis, Brett Favre is still in the news (Yes, I do realize that I’m part of the problem by writing this).

Vikings fans continue to take matters into their own hands in an attempt to persuade Favre to return to the team in 2010. The latest effort involves a full-page color ad in this coming Monday’s Hattiesburg (Mississippi) newspaper, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

39-year-old Benjamin Nelms—who lives in Madison, Wisconsin—is the latest Favre supporter to get involved. He told the Star-Tribune that the ad is already paid for and costs “about twice as much as season tickets.”

The ad thanks Favre for a great season and urges him to get healthy and return to the team in 2010.

Following the Vikings’ loss in the NFC Championship game, billboards were taken out in Hattiesburg urging the future Hall of Famer to make a return to the Vikes.

Whether or not you hate this type of news, one thing is certain: You better prepare yourself for more of it. Until Favre announces a decision on his playing future, “Favre Watch” will continue to be in effect.
