Fireman Ed calls Jason Taylor a meathead

Free agent outside linebacker Jason Taylor was in New York on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of joining the Jets for the 2010 season. After spending 12 of the past 13 years with the Miami Dolphins—and letting it be known that he doesn’t have a special place in his heart for Jets fans—Taylor isn’t exactly what you would call “loved” in New York City.

On Wednesday, one of the more prominent Gang Green faithful made his feelings about Taylor quite clear to Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News.

“He’s such a meathead,” Fireman Ed told Cimini.

Ed Anzalone—aka “Fireman Ed”—is considered to be one of the most famous Jets fans on the planet.

"It's hilarious," Fireman Ed told Cimini. "Let's be real. This guy hates the Jets. He hates Jets fans more than anything. Put it this way: For him to even try to come here, it has to be two things: Nobody is bothering with him or he wants to win a championship. He wants to hop on board."

The best part about this story is that Fireman Ed has a history with Taylor. According to Cimini, Anzalone was the victim of a profanity-laced tirade by Taylor a few seasons ago after the Dolphins defeated the Jets at the Meadowlands.

"That idiot came running over, looking for me, cursing, saying he wants to kick my (butt)," Anzalone said. "I looked at him and said, 'You see all these kids around here?' He was acting like a lunatic, acting like a (bleep). Just stupid."

How great is it to wake up on Thursday and start your day off with a story like this?

No report as of yet on whether or not Fireman Ed would buy a Taylor jersey if the free agent signed with the Jets.
