FIU player stabbed to death on campus

Florida International running back Kendall Berry died on the way to the hospital Thursday night after being stabbed on the school’s Miami campus, according to the Associated Press.

Witnesses say they saw Berry arguing with another man outside of the school’s student recreation center late Thursday night. Miami-Dade police detective Javier Baez told the AP that several witnesses were being interviewed.

Berry—a 22-year-old sophomore from Haines City, Fla.—rushed for 264 yards and six touchdowns in seven games last season for the Golden Panthers.

"Last night, we lost a well-liked student who was a tireless worker in the classroom and on the ball field," university president Mark B. Rosenberg said in a video message. "Like so many of our students, Kendall Berry had positive energy and a bright future."

According to the AP, one person was detained and questioned, but was released and is currently not a suspect.
