It's a busy week for Montario Hardesty
It’s going to be a busy week for Volunteers running back Montario Hardesty.
The 23-year-old senior hit the road on Sunday for upcoming visits with the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos, Hardesty told us during a recent podcast.
The 6’0”, 225-pounder rushed for 1,345 yards (fourth in SEC) and 13 touchdowns (third) for the 7-6 Volunteers in 2009. Hardesty wrapped up his five-year career in Knoxville with 2,391 yards and 26 scores.
An aggressive, downhill runner who can make plays in the passing game (25 receptions for 302 yards and one score in 2009), Hardesty ran a 4.51 40-yard-dash at February’s combine in Indianapolis.
The knock on Hardesty is his durability as the running back tore his ACL in 2005 and also missed games in 2007 and 2008 due to injury. However, Hardesty appeared in every game for the Volunteers in 2009 and had a combined 71 carries in Tennessee’s final two regular-season outings of the year (Vanderbilt, Kentucky).
