It's the Saints and the Vikings to open the 2010 season

With the official release of the NFL schedule set to take place in just under four hours, some juicy nuggets are beginning to find their way onto the internet.

For starters, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced earlier today during a live chat that the first game of the season will be an NFC Championship game rematch between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints.

“I know I will get in trouble from our scheduling makers for releasing this in advance, but the Saints will be hosting the Minnesota Vikings for our Kickoff game,” said (or should I say “typed”) Goodell. “It should be a great celebration in a great city.”

The rematch will take place on Thursday, September 9.
