Jaguars admit another mistake

One year ago at this time, the Jacksonville Jaguars were in the market looking to upgrade the wide receiver position. The front office watched tape, made their evaluations and decided that the best course of action was to sign free agent wide receiver Laurent Robinson to a five-year deal worth $32.5 million with $13.6 million guaranteed.

Robinson was coming off a career-year with the Dallas Cowboys in which he caught 54 passes for 858 yards and 11 touchdowns. Maybe, just maybe, the Jaguars had found their man.

One highly unproductive season later and the Jaguars have already given up on Robinson, admitting their mistake on Wednesday by dumping the six-year veteran.

During his short stint with the Jags, the 27-year-old caught just 24 passes for 252 yards with zero touchdowns in only seven games.

Robinson is now an unrestricted free agent who is free to sign elsewhere, while Jacksonville is a 2-14 football team that will look to post the organization’s first winning record since 2007 next season.
