Jaguars dump Osgood, sign Harris
The Jacksonville Jaguars said goodbye to wideout/special teams contributor Kassim Osgood on Tuesday and announced that the team has come to terms with free agent punter Nick Harris, who was scheduled to hit the market in approximately five minutes.
Osgood spent seven seasons with the Chargers before landing in Jacksonville in 2009. Known more for his special teams play, some thought that the opportunity with the Jaguars would provide the 31-year-old with a chance to take the next step by contributing more at the wide receiver position. Unfortunately, Osgood only caught 11 passes for 102 yards during his two seasons in Jacksonville.
Harris spent seven seasons in Detroit before heading south to Jacksonville last year, where he averaged 42.7 yards per punt.
Terms of the deal were not immediately made available.
