Madden 2011 picks Steelers to beat the Packers (video)

DALLAS—Madden 2011, the video game that sold roughly four million copies on the day it launched back in August of 2010, is picking the Steelers to win Sunday’s Super Bowl, 24-20.

But before you dismiss this prediction (and article) as a complete joke, you’d be wise to take note that this video game simulation has correctly predicted the outcome of six of the last seven Super Bowls, according to Ben Silverman of Yahoo.com.

Take a look…

2010

Madden Prediction: Saints 35, Colts 31
Outcome: Saints 31, Colts 17
CORRECT

2009

Madden Prediction: Steelers 28, Cardinals 24
Outcome: Steelers 27, Cardinals 23
CORRECT

2008

Madden Prediction: Patriots 38, Giants 30
Outcome: Giants 17, Patriots 14
INCORRECT

2007

Madden Prediction: Colts 38, Bears 27
Outcome: Colts 29, Bears 17
CORRECT

2006

Madden Prediction: Steelers 24, Seahawks 19
Outcome: Steelers 21, Seahawks 10
CORRECT

2005

Madden Prediction: Patriots 47, Eagles 31
Outcome: Patriots 24, Eagles 21
CORRECT

2004

Madden Prediction: Patriots 23, Panthers 20
Outcome: Patriots 32, Panthers 29
CORRECT

It should also be noted that if Madden 2011 is predicting a 24-20 final (44 points), the video game is saying that the Total will stay UNDER by one point (currently at 45 points).

I’m guessing there’s at least one guy out there who will be factoring this into the equation when making his bets on Sunday.
