McFadden hits the shelf, expected to miss two weeks

Oakland Raiders starting running back Darren McFadden has had trouble staying healthy. In three professional seasons, the former Arkansas Razorback has yet to put together a full 16-game campaign.

Will 2011 be any different?

Darren McFaddenICONMcFadden is coming off a monstrous 2010 season.

Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times is reporting that McFadden has suffered a fractured orbital bone and is expected to be out of action for the next two weeks.

Coming off a breakout campaign that featured 1,664 total yards and ten touchdowns, lofty expectations have been set for McFadden’s fourth professional season.

But here’s where things get a bit tricky: With McFadden out, the Raiders are down to a cast of unknown and unproven players at the running back position which includes rookie Taiwan Jones and veteran Rock Cartwright.

Looks like the team will need to get restricted free agent Michael Bush under contract in a hurry.
