Mixed news out of San Diego
It was bad enough the San Diego Chargers laid an egg in last Sunday’s 20-17 loss at St. Louis.
Unfortunately for fantasy owners and Bolts fans, the hits just keep on coming.
Wide receiver Malcom Floyd and kicker Nate Kaeding are long shots to play in Week 7 when the Chargers host the New England Patriots, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune.
Floyd suffered a hamstring injury and according to Acee, the Chargers don’t want to risk having their top target aggravate it further. Floyd owners should start preparing for Week 7 under the impression that the wideout will not play.
In regards to Kaeding, the kicker “tweaked” his groin prior to the start of the St. Louis game and is also expected to be held out for Week 7.
However, there is a bright spot amongst the cloud of darkness hovering above the city San Diego. Tight end Antonio Gates—who suffered a left toe injury against the Rams—could start this weekend, which is good news considering the initial reports on Gates had owners ready to rip their hair out.
We’ll have to see how Gates is handled this week during practice before making a final decision, but owners are still advised to start preparing in the event the Pro Bowl tight end is unable to play.
It’s always better to be safe, than sorry.
