Mr. Opportunity strikes! Birds lead Giants 13-3 at half
PHILADELPHIA—Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel is at it again.
Through thirty minutes of action in Philadelphia Sunday night, the veteran Pro Bowler has already recovered a fumble and intercepted an Eli Manning pass—both of which gave the Eagles excellent field position in the NFC’s marquee game of the week.
Unfortunately for Philly fans, the Eagles had to settle for two David Akers field goals after the offense failed to pick up a first down following both Samuel turnovers. Philly currently leads the Giants 13-3 in a battle that will determine first place in the NFC East.
The 29-year old Samuel now has six interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in his last eight November games.
For those of you wondering what Michael Vick had up his sleeve for an encore after last Monday’s historic performance, the Philadelphia quarterback has completed 10 of 19 passes for 130 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. In addition, Vick has rushed for 24 yards and a score on six carries/scrambles.
Second half coming up next. Lets see if those missed opportunities come back to bite the Birds in the behind.
