NFL season opener will feature Cowboys at Giants
The defending champion New York Giants will play host to the Dallas Cowboys to kick-off the 2012 NFL regular season on September 5, according to various reports on twitter.
ICONTony Romo faces a stiff test in Week 1 against the defending champs.
That’s good news for Big Blue, as the Giants have come out victorious in five of their last six meetings against the Cowboys, which includes a crucial 31-14 win on January 1 that kept the Cowboys out of the playoffs.
In addition, the defending Super Bowl champion is 8-0 hosting the kickoff game tradition that began in 2004, per a tweet from @NFLfootballinfo.
The game will be televised on NBC and will get underway at 8:30pm eastern. The NFL decided to move the first game of the season from its normal spot on Thursday to Wednesday this year so as not to conflict with the Democratic National Convention.
And since no article about an upcoming football game would be complete without a point spread, our friends at BetOnline.com just opened the Giants as a three-point favorite.
