Reggie Bush settles out of court
Reggie Bush must have figured it would be better to settle out of court than risk getting on the stand.
The New Orleans Saints running back—who was expected to give a court-ordered deposition in a few days—reached an agreement with New Era Sports & Entertainment’s Lloyd Lake, per a report from Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports.
If you’ll remember, Lake was the guy who allegedly paid Bush under the table while he was at USC—specifically, $300,000 in rent, cash and other benefits. In addition to Lake, Bush had previously settled with New Era co-founder Michael Michaels in 2007 for somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000, per Yahoo.
While the New Era drama may be out of Bush’s life for good, the same can’t be said for the University of Southern California. The NCAA just finished an investigation into the Trojans’ athletic department and you can rest assured that the Bush “incident” was one of their primary areas of focus.
A decision on USC’s future could come down sometime next month.
