Reggie Nelson is headed back to Cincinnati
The 2012 free agent safety class was already thin, but after Sunday evening’s latest development, the position just got a whole lot thinner.
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Cincinnati Bengals have reached an agreement with free agent safety Reggie Nelson. Financial particulars of the contract weren’t immediately made available.
The 28-year-old out of Florida had been drawing some interest on the open market—most notably from the New York Jets—but in the end, Nelson decided to return to Cincinnati where’s he spent the last two seasons after beginning his career in 2007 with the Jaguars.
It will obviously depend on how much the Bengals decided to shell out, but this looks like a good move for Cincinnati. Nelson is coming off a career year that featured 82 tackles, two sacks and four interceptions in 16 starts.
