Report: Al Groh headed to Georgia Tech

Al Groh is back in the ACC.

The former University of Virginia head coach will be named the next defensive coordinator of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, according to Heather Dinich of ESPN.com.

Groh will be taking over for Dave Wommack, who was let go last week after two seasons under current head coach Paul Johnson.

Groh will be joining a Georgia Tech team that went 11-3 this season, but lost the FedEx Orange Bowl 24-14 to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Groh was fired by the University of Virginia in November after going 3-9 this past season. He was 59-53 in nine seasons at Virginia.
