Report: Browns to take one more shot at top pick

T minus two hours until the start of the 2010 NFL draft and there still isn’t any definitive answer as to what’s going to happen with the first overall selection.

The latest piece of news to hit the internets comes to us from Michael Smith of ESPN.com, who recently talked with Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren. During the conversation, Holmgren told Smith that he’s going to make one more phone call to the St. Louis Rams regarding the first pick in the draft.

Smith reports that Holmgren would be willing to part with most of Cleveland’s ten draft picks this year to get up to No. 1. In addition, the Browns’ football czar would be possibly willing to part with some 2011 draft picks as well.

Boom goes the dynamite.

Although Holmgren isn’t optimistic that a deal will get done, just the thought of getting to see another Mike Ditka-style draft maneuver is enough to keep our appetites whet until this damn thing finally gets underway at 7:30.
