As all 32 teams continue to perform their due diligence on prospects they will be paying dump trucks of money to come summer, the St. Louis Rams continue to fuel the rumors that they may be addressing the quarterback position with the first overall pick.

That, or the front office was just looking for an excuse to go hang out in tropical Pensacola earlier this week.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rams general manager Billy Devaney and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur traveled to Florida earlier this week to meet with Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford is currently in Pensacola training for his March 29 pro day.

In addition to meeting with Bradford, Devaney and Shurmur also sat down and talked with Dr. James Andrews, the man who repaired Bradford’s shoulder after he suffered a season-ending injury during the 2009 season.

The fact that the Rams sent higher ups from the organization to meet with Bradford in Florida shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point. The team desperately needs to find not only their quarterback of the future, but a face for the struggling franchise as well.

Drafting Bradford—the top-rated quarterback prospect in this year’s draft—would be the right move. Head coach Steve Spagnuolo doesn’t have another year to waste on using a quarterback-by-committee approach. The Rams won just one game in 2009 and another disastrous season, coupled with having no quarterback of the future, would put Spags on the hot seat entering his third year.

It’s the right move and it’s one the NFP has been calling for a long time.
